KASESE – President Yoweri Museveni has showered praise on the late Queen mother of Rwenzururu – Mukirania Biira Christine – calling her a “peacemaker.” The late mother to Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere passed on Wednesday 12, at the age of 85.

Museveni says that Mukirania has been a key factor in promoting unity and peace in the Rwenzururu and Rwenzori region.

He adds that Mukirania has been his “sister” because they share the same clan. Mr. also revealed that he was reliably informed of the tragic news by the Basiita clan –to which the late Queen mother traditionally belonged.

The celebrated tribal queen is also a mother to Minister of State for Agriculture, Christopher Kibanzanga.

Her death comes at a time when the Rwenzururu Kingdom is struggling to restore peace and Unity in their region.

We should also remember that In November 2016, the UPDF army raided King Mumbere’s Palace following consistent attacks in communities within the kingdom.

Since Ebola was confirmed in Kasese on Monday, the Rwenzururu Queen mother will receive a brief burial ceremony where professional doctors from Ministry of Health will render assistance to the family in order to control the potential spread of Ebola which has so far claimed two lives in the same district.

While at Mpondwe border point, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Minister for Health says that Kasese is one of the confirmed areas which have been affected by Ebola.
