KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni described members of the Opposition as a group who are almost choking on hatred and only working at disrupting Uganda.

He said: “People who are just shouting and wasting time, if you really care about your people, there are ways you can help them, wherever you are, you don’t have to be in Government to help your people. I hear people going around wasting their time Democratic Party, Democratic Party, Democratic Party without Museveni are not there because Museveni was the real DP.”

Mr. Museveni who was addressing State of the Nation at Serena said that at age of 21 in 1986 while in DP, he launched efforts in Kiruhura that has seen no resident in his district stay in grass thatched houses and those efforts started when I was still in opposition.

The President said: “If you claim you are this and don’t care about the income of your people, you are nothing. UPC was deadly, it is not now that you can shout, abuse put up your legs. So please don’t tell me because you are’t NRM you can’t help your people, rubbish and I can tell you on authority because I was in opposition, it is only recently that I was this side. You are only building disruption but me I was building wealth for my people.”

During his address, the President also asked guests to join him to pay a moment of silence to all Ugandans who lost their lives since the last state of the nation address in 2018 and among those included former Premier; Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, Ibrahim Abiriga, Cyprian Bamwoze, Augustine Salimo, Mohammed Kirumira, Julius Onen, 30 people died when boat capsized, four pilgrims from Kenya, residents from Bududa who lost loves to mudslide among others.
