MUKONO – The Deputy Chief Registrar of Mukono High Court Cissy Kawuma Mudhasi has on Thursday, June 20 postponed the hearing of Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kyaligonza and his bodyguards’ warrants of arrest to be nullified.
The hearing has been postponed to Tuesday, June 25
Mrs Mudhasi asked the State to produce their submissions before she can process a ruling next week on the matter.
Maj Gen (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza’s lawyers led by Counsel Caleb Alaka and Jamiru Mukama appealed to Mukono High Court to help resolve their clients’ issue.
Sgt. Esther Namaganda the victim, appeared in court yesterday but the accused Major and his team of bodyguards never showed up.
Gen. Kyaligonza and his bodyguards Cpl. Peter; Busindiche and Pt. John Okurut did not turn up.
Last week on Monday 10, Her Worship, Juliet Hatanga had instructed the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Mr. Okoth Ochola to arrest Maj. Kyaligonza and his bodyguards and produce them in court on June 24.
The accused persons have continuously skipped court sessions for the fifth time in a row.
H/W Hatanga passed her ruling during the court session where she had listened to both the State’s submissions and the defence’s response to the legal matter. The Judge noted that court does not act on rumours.
She has extended the warrants of arrest to two weeks and expects the IGP to produce them in court on Monday, June 24.
It is alleged that on February 24, the accused persons assaulted and obstructed Sgt Esther Namaganda while she was on duty in Seeta, Mukono District.
