KAMPALA – Mr. Joel Ssenyonyi, the NTV news anchor has quit the station, confirms management.
“NTV news anchor Joel Ssenyonyi receives a farewell cake from the #NTVNews crew. Farewell to Joel Ssenyonyi,” announced NTV.
“You’ve been so supportive during your time at NTV, adding that “We’ll miss having a wonderful colleague like you. Good luck in your future endeavours!.”
It is said that mr. Ssenyonyi tendered his resignation to the management last week and it was granted to him on Thursday, May 2.
“Today was my last day to anchor news at NTV. My journey with NTV begun 5yrs ago, and it has been nothing but worthwhile,” said Mr. Ssenyonyi.
He applauded the station and the colleagues for being part of his family for last five years he spent there.
“I’ve grown, gotten better, made friends and enemies too in the course of my work. I’ll forever be grateful to my colleagues at NTV, they’ve been my other family & I’ll always cheer them on,” added Ssenyonyi.
“The 13 years I’ve spent in the media from my days at UBC-TV back in 2006 have been memorable. Thank you all for being supportive in this journey.”
Last year in October, NTV Uganda announced the departure of the station news chief and a seasoned news anchor Maurice Mugisha who joined UBC as the deputy managing director.
NTV appointed Ms. Josephine Karungi to replace Mr. Mugisha.
“She [Josephine Karungi] replaces Mr. Maurice Mugisha,” NTV posted on social media.
In the same month, another senior news anchor Rachael Mwine Arinaitwe left the station.
Ms. Mwine while anchoring the 9 pm bulletin announced that she was leaving the station.
The celebrated news anchor, however, said she signed out on a good note.
The management confirmed that, “A surprise for @arinaitwerach [Rachael Mwine] as she signs out after serving as an anchor at NTV for 7 years!!! NTV is extremely grateful and honoured to have worked with you, Rach. We wish you all the very best on your next journey.”
