Man cuts woman to pieces over love

MBARARA – Grief and shock gripped residents of Rwenshebashebe village, Masha Sub-county in Isingiro District on Wednesday, April 3, after a man identified as Gashom Yakure cut a woman into pieces over infidelity.

Residents say that Mr. Yakure started having an affair with Ms. Doreen Natukunda after her husband fled the country over what they called accumulated debts.

That when she told Mr. Yakure that her husband was coming back soon, it did not please him, he decided to kill her.

Residents add that Mr. Yakure has been a motorcycle mechanic in the area and that having affairs with married women has been his habit.

“After receiving information about the death of Natukunda we rushed to her home and indeed we found the body with deep wounds on her head, neck but we could not do anything because police had already arrived. We know that Natukunda and Gashom have been having an affair. We even found his jacket in the kitchen, ” said Mr. Emmanuel Mugabi one of the residents.

We have been told that on a fateful day, Mr. Yakure found the deceased in the kitchen to let her know how their relationship was coming to an end.

It has also been reported that in the quarrel, the man picked a panga and cut the woman to pieces before he went into hiding.

Police searched Mr. Yakure’s home but didn’t find him. However, they found some of the documents which indicated that he is a born of Ruhama county in Ntungamo District.

Mr. Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, confirmed the murder, saying they have kicked off investigations into the matter and have the suspect arrested. He called upon the public to assist police in providing information that can help police have him brought to book.

The body of Natukunda was taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
