FULL LIST: Byabashaija shakes up prison service in new reshuffle

LUZIRA – A total of 21 prison warders and wardresses have been affected in the huge shake-up by the Uganda Prison Service boss, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija.

According to the April 26 service orders, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr. Byabashaija, has since transferred some of the officers, appointed some and sent others on leave.

According to the statement, Mr. Francis Xavier Elubu, SP, from leave is appointed DPC Masindi while Mr. Innocent Giboni Majeme, also from leave goes to Mubende as DPC.

Mr. Godfrey Mutumba, Sentema Prison Officer in Charge has been appointed DPC Nakaseke, handing over the station to Ms. Madina Nabagala, Butoolo Prison officer in Charge.

Ms. Harriet Namakoye, from leave, is appointed new DPC Wakiso, taking over from Ms. Rebecca Gabu who is deployed at the UN Mission in Somalia.

Mr. Charles David Opio, Loro Prison Officer in Charge, is appointed DPC Gulu.  He hands over to Mr. Hannington Musinguzi, the Farm Isimba Preston.

Ms. Winnie Obace Alum, Procurement Department is appointed Staff Officer at Kampala Extra Region while Mr. Francis Byaruhanga Kakira Prison boss proceeds on course to NALI.

He hands over the station to Ms. Susan Omoding, Nakifuma prison, who is appointed Officer in Charge Kakira Prison.

Ms. Catherine Okware, Mbale Prsion (W), is transferred to Amuria Prison, as Officer in Charge. She takes over from Mr. John Peter Enyetu, ASP, who proceeds on accumulated leave.

Mr. Anthony Kapule, from leave is appointed Officer in Charge, Lukaya Prison taking over from Mr. John Mary Lubowa, who proceeds on accumulated leave.

Mr. Vicent Abuzere Ojera, Officer in Charge Kamuli Prison proceeds on accumulated leave. He hands over the station to Mr. Joseph Obonyo (P.O.II) Farm Mubuku Prison, who is now appointed Officer in Charge Kamuli Prison.

Mr. Daniel Sekijjo, from leave is appointed Officer in Charge, Rukungiri Prison while Ms. Brenda Fassie Abaasa, Luzira Prison (W), is appointed Officer in Charge Mbale Prison (W).

Mr. Brian Mulabi, Farm Ragem Prison, is appointed Officer in Charge, Farm Ngenge Prison taking over from Mr. Louis Obua, P.O.I, who proceeds on accumulated leave.

Mr. Andrew Ochwo, ASP, Ndorwa Prison is appointed Officer in Charge, Kibaale Prison. He takes over from Mr. Jonathan Tumwine Abasa, P.O.II, who proceeds on accumulated leave while Mr. William Kiggundu, Nyimbwa Prison, from leave is appointed Officer in Charge, Buwama prison. He takes over from Mr. Alfred Ongom, P.O.II.

Ms. Janet Nakawungu, Sentema Prison, proceeds on accumulated leave pending retirement while Ms. Vicky Phyllous Awonkot, P.O.II, Officer in Charge, Arua Women Prison proceeds on leave pending retirement.

She hands over the station to Ms. Patience Phoebe Namara, Gulu Prison (W) who is appointed as Officer in Charge, U. G. Prison Arua (W).

Mr. Albert George Kibwota, Mbarara Prison is appointed Officer in Charge, Sanga prison. He takes over from Mr. Geoffrey Okello, P.O.II, who is transferred to U. G. Prison Mbarara for duty.

Mr. Alfred Ongom, P.O.II, Officer in Charge Buwama prison is transferred to U Kayonza Prison as Officer in Charge.  He takes over from Mr. John Luweesi, P.O.II, who is transferred to U. G. Prison Nakasongola (M) for duty.

Mr. Jackson Musinguzi, Kigo Prison is appointed Officer in Charge, Butoolo Prison while Hajara Ddamulira, Lukaya prison is appointed Officer in Charge Ndagwe prison. She takes over from Sgt Richard Mulindwa who proceeds on accumulated leave.

Dr. Byabashaija said that the transfers take immediate effect unless otherwise stated.

“All those sent on leave must strictly be taken outside the institutions. The Director of Administration to facilitate execution of these orders without delay,” he said.

Dr. Byabashaija described the changes as rejuvenation and rewarding of performance and training.
