
KAMPALA – Members of Parliament (MPs) want the government to come up with a statement on what happened to State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Hon. Idah Nantaba and the circumstances following the death of a motorcyclist.
The request was made by Kasilo County MP, Elijah Okupa while raising the issue as a matter of national importance at the 27th sitting on Wednesday, March 27, at Parliament. He also wants updates on the rocks of Ngora.
Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda emphasised the need for the government to present a statement on Ms. Nantaba’s issues.
In response to the MPs, the minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mr. John Byabagambi promised to forward the issue to the Prime Minister for the Minister of Internal Affairs to present a statement on the issue on the floor of the House.
Oyam woman MP, Santa Alum demanded a statement and debate on the issue of Hon. Nantaba’s suspected attack. The Speaker ruled that Hon. Nantaba should explain herself in the House since she is an MP.
On Monday, March 25, Ms. Nantaba survived assassination after suspected gunmen intercepted her. She was returning to Kampala from Ndeeba village in Kayunga District where she had spent the weekend.
Ms. Nantaba while still State minister for Lands claimed some people wanted to kill her for fighting land grabbers.
