KAMPALA. Ms Carol Mirembe a daycare owner of Falitha Night and Day Care has been charged with Manslaughter of a four-year-old.

Ms Mirembe appeared before Chief Magistrate’s court at Makindye to have her charge formally read to her.

She denied the charge before the Chief Magistrate Ms Prossy Katushabe who informed her that the offence she is facing is bailable.

Prosecution led by Ms Jackie Akao states that on February 5th, 2019, Mirembe caused the death of Tendo Natasha who was left in her daycare by her mother who went out of the country to look for Greener Pastures.

It is also alleged that the body of Tendo was found lying with blood which had even leaked from her head to other minors she slept with.

While applying for bail, through her lawyers Mirembe told Court that she is a responsible woman who is still innocent until proven guilty. She also argued that it is her constitutional right to apply for bail.

Mirembe presented two sureties who were found substantial by Court and were bonded at Shs50 million non-cash.

The Suspect Mirembe was also granted cash bail of Shs1.5 m.

Ms Akao told court that inquiries in the matter were complete and thus seeking for the matter to be fixed for the hearing.

The case has been fixed for hearing on March 7.

According to the brief facts the mother of the deceased Minor left her child at Mirembe’s Day Care in Namasuba in 2017 and Tendo has been staying at the Daycare since then.

It also indicates that Tendo’s mother used to send her School fees electronically to the School Management while abroad.
