KAMPALA – The head of the criminal division of the High court Justice Wilson Kwesiga has threatened to set free a key suspect in the Entebbe women murders if the DPP does not produce witnesses to pin him by December 10.

Ivan Katongole, a businessman dealing in the exportation of fish had appeared in court to apply for bail for the second time pending the hearing of his case in which he is facing a charge of murder of a one Rose Namuli a former hairdresser at Mpala village.

His first bail was rejected in September this year by Justice Jane Frances Adodo who instead ordered that the High court at Entebbe fixes Katongole’s case for trial and determination in the next criminal session.

However, as DPP’s Raechel Bikhole stood up to oppose the bail application, Justice Kwesiga demanded to know why Katongole’s case is not fixed for hearing yet Police concluded its investigations and the DPP perused through the evidence before committing the suspect for trial way in August.

The Judge declined to hear Katongole ‘s bail application and instead fixed his trial to kick- off the following week on Monday or else he proceeds to release him on bail from Kigo prison.

Katongole is jointly charged with Hellen Nabagala and Andrew Kizito for the murder of a one Rose Namuli; a former hairdresser at Mpala village.

The trio were arrested by Police on July 24, 2017, as suspects in the alleged gruesome murder. They are currently held at Kigo prison awaiting trial before the High court at Entebbe.
