KAMPALA– The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has after an uproar resolved to close three Labour export companies for none adherence to the law.

The closed companies include; Sauman Services Limited, Fountain Security Services and Abroad Placement Uganda Limited.

According to a statement by the ministry issued Tuesday evening, on behalf of the Gender Ministry Permanent Secretary, James Ebitu, the Director of Social Protection, the closed companies have continuously failed to adhere to regulations under the Employment and Recruitment of Ugandan Migrant Worker’s Abroad Regulations of 2005.

“The ministry hereby informs the general public that the external Labour recruitment companies whose names and details appear below have been cancelled,” reads part of the statement.

The three companies contravened regulation 19 C and F. These particular provision bar labour export companies from misrepresentation in relation to recruitment and placement of workers, such as publication or advertisement of deceptive notices or information or submission for processing of documents, which are fraudulent or containing false information, the ministry further asserted.

The ministry in the same statement also suspended seven other Labour companies, accusing them of likely exposure of Ugandan workers to exploitation, which might negatively affect international relations.

Karibun International limited, Elite Placements Company Limited, Labour Frontiers International limited and Rokas Recruitment Services limited are all suspended for abusing the law.

The list also includes Fresh Mind International limited, Swift International Recruiters limited and Professional Recruitment Services.

The affected companies have been exporting domestic workers, security guards, nurses, drivers and waitresses to Dubai, Iraq, U.E.A, Canada, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
