GULU – Gulu High Court judge Stephen Mubiru has on Tuesday 16, granted bail to Edward Ssebuwufu alias Eddie Mutwe, the bodyguard of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Eddie Mutwe was arrested on Saturday, August 25 from Kampala in connection with the Arua by-election fracas and charged with treason.

He is one of the 35 people facing the same charges from an incident that left Kyagulanyi’s driver Yasin Kawuma dead.

Among the treason, suspects are MPs Bobi Wine of Kyadondo East, Francis Zaake of Mityana Municipality, Gerald Karuhanga of Ntungamo and Kassiano Wadri of Arua Municipality, among other individuals.

Also given bail is, Musa Ssenyange alias Rabadaba, a machine operator. The two will appear in court on December 3, together with the 33 suspects earlier bailed.

According to the prosecution, on Monday August 13 during the last campaign day in the Arua Municipality by-elections, the duo were part of a group of people in Kassiano Wadri’s camp who parked a grader in the road to block President Museveni’s convoy and in the same incident stoned one of the cars in the convoy smashing its rear windscreen.

The duo were represented by lawyers Asuman Basalirwa, also MP Bugiri Municipality, Tony Kitara and Henry Komakech Kilama.
