Three dead, dozens critically injured in accident

DOKOLO– Three footballers of Amac in Dokolo district died in an accident on Sunday evening.

The footballers were involved in an accident while travelling in a tipper lorry which lost control as it was over speeding.

According to Dan Ogwang, an eye witness–the lorry number UBD 471T  lost control and overturned due to over speeding. One of the victims that is yet to be identified died on spot.

The incident happened at around 4:00pm on a road between Olweny and Adwoki village.

He said other two unidentified players died while they were being rushed to Dokolo Health Centre IV. Ten more players were in a critical condition by press time.

He said the players were from Ateri village in Amac were going for a soccer match in Dokolo centre.

When contacted, North Kyoga region police spokesman David Odong Mudong, confirmed the incident but said he has not got the details as it will come up shortly in the police update.
