KAMPALA-President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday promised to support stakeholders in the ICT to create and strengthen a national Artificial Intelligence ecosystem as well as satellite technologies to achieve sustainable development.

In a speech read by the Vice President, Edward Ssekandi; Museveni said “With many nations, including Bank of Uganda on technology, robotics and artificial intelligence to reshape humanity, we need to encourage our youth and people to be digital literate and become multi-disciplined in ICTs.”

The President was speaking on Wednesday at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in an ICT symposium which was also a part of the commemorative activities as Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) celebrated its 20 years of regulating the communications sector in Uganda.

“In 1996, government adopted a policy to increase penetration through privatization rather than government intervention, we only had UTL and MTN,” Museveni added.
