Millions lost as fire guts school dormitory in Kabale

KABALE– Fire gutted a boy’s dormitory at Kabale Brainstorm High School in Kabale district Wednesday night destroying student’s properties worth millions.

According to Erasmus Habasa, the School Director, Ariho I dormitory started burning at around 8 pm just as students had left their evening preps studies.

Habasa revealed that the burnt dormitory was accommodating 50 students.

The Police Fire Brigade from Kabale Central Police Station was called but could not save any of the property as it reached late.

Although no student was injured, all 50 metallic beds along with student suitcases, mattresses and personal property were destroyed by the fire.

Augustine Nakitari, the Officer in Charge of Kabale Central Police Station says that police is investigating the cause of the fire.

“The cause could not be readily established; investigations are underway,” said Nakitari.

Cases regarding fire in schools are rampant, last week, fire gutted Nalya high school in Kampala and several properties were destroyed and lived injured.
