Mbarara Hospital finally gets mobile X-ray consignment

MBARARA-The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has spent sh 300m on the procurement of a consignment of assorted medical equipment for Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, Dr. Celestine Barigye the hospital directors confirms the report.

Barigye told journalists on Tuesday while receiving the machines that as a hospital; they had faced challenges in the emergency ward with casualties who had circummed to accidents failing to get the much-needed attention when they visit the hospital.

He added that they had been faced by poor patient handling from first medical attendants for radiography, that sometimes this could worsen the victim’s situation.

“We requested the Finance ministry for these machines after we realized that there is a need for mobile X-rays to treat patients from wherever they have been admitted. This machine will be finding patients and not patients looking for it.

“The handler will be able to drive it up to the bed where the patient has been put for assessment and radiography now and then, ” Barigye said.

He added that the consignment had a mobile X-ray, defibrillator, an emergency trolley, medical refrigerator, and examination lights.

Barigye further said that this will improve the standard of the hospital to the national hospital status, they are going to start admitting student’s bachelors and masters degree in emergency medicine.

Moses Achan, a radiologist at Mbarara regional hospital expressed his gratitude to the management of the hospital, he said that this will help to attend to various patients at ago and reduce on the would be risks of deaths in the emergency and the Intensive Care Unit as a whole.
