MBARARA– Residents of Nyakaizi cell in Kakoba division woke up in anguish after a passerby discovered the body of Shadiya Namakula in a forest few meters from Mbarara main town on Thursday morning.

Laisa Tumukunde, one of the residents recounted that last night he heard dogs barking but he didn’t take it seriously only to be told this morning that his neighbor’s body is lying in the forest without a head.

He narrates that Shadiya’s body was found wrapped in a mosquito net covered with rubbish on the rubbish pit.

Ben Tumwebaze, the area councilor also said that Shadiya could have been murdered in the night in her house, raped before they dumped her in the forest for the reasons we have not yet known.

However, these accused police for having delayed surfacing at the scene with the sniffer dogs to be able to trace the perpetrators.

Rodgers Musana the Officer in charge of Kakoba Police station confirmed the gruesome murder however he asked members of the community not to always tamper with the crime scene so that police detectives can be able to get leads of the assailants.

“As police, we condemn these gruesome acts and we have kicked off our investigations, we assure you that the people who are behind this will be arrested.”

Shadiya’s body has been taken to Mbarara Regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
