KAMPALA – The forum for Democratic Change President Patrick Amuriat has on Friday, August 3 announced a sweeping reshuffle in the party’s parliamentary leadership by appointing the Gulu Woman MP Betty Aol Ochan to replace Winnie Kiiza as Leader of Opposition in Parliament.
Mr Amuriat announced the changes after the party’s National Council meeting that ended on Friday at the party headquarters at Najjanankumbi, breaking the ice on the already rumoured dropping of Ms Kiiza from the coveted position.
The reshuffle follows tensions within the party following the acrimonious elections in which Mr Amuriat defeated Gen. Muntu, who had the support of most of the FDC’s parliamentary leadership including Ms Kiiza’s.
Besides, the appointment of a new leader of Opposition, FDC has made other changes in its leadership appointing Nandala Mafabi as the chair Public Accounts Committee.
The Buhweju county MP, Francis Mwijukye has been appointed Commissioner of Parliament replacing veteran Cecilia Ogwal of Dokolo.
Ssemujju Nganda has remained the Chief Opposition Whip in Parliament and his deputy will be Hon Tonny Muhindo.
Fungaroo Kaps Hassan of Obongi County has been appointed as the Committee Chairperson of Government Assurance and Hon Micheal Kabaziguruka as his deputy.
In other changes, Hon Mubarak Munyagwa has been appointed the Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, replacing Abdu Katuntu. He will be deputized by Hon Moses Kasibante.
Roland Kaginda was named head of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, while DP’s Betty Nambooze was named CPA Representative
