KAMPALA– Police in Nansana July 5 arrested a 44-year-old man suspected robber that has been hiding.
The residents of Lubigi, Nansana suspected Zabron Bakerwa to be behind the series of robberies in their area after some said he was in possession of a firearm.
Bakerwa was arrested and his home in Ganda Nansana Division searched.
Police recovered a star pistol number B05278, counterfeit currency of different denominations, a black toy gun and other breaking objects purportedly used in robbing.
Police also recovered a police bond form which showed that Bakerwa had jumped bond.
According to police, the suspect together with two accomplices were last year involved in a robbery, arrested, charged with aggravated robbery vide CRB 658/2017 and later released on police bond.
The three however, jumped bond and have been on the Police’s wanted list.
Bakerwa disclosed that he has been robbing from homes, stranded motorists and pedestrians along Nansana- Lubigi stretch.
“I operate during night hours,” he confessed.
He is currently detained at Nansana Police Station as investigations continue.
