Panic as police recover abandoned gun

Police have recovered a gun attached to a top security firm following a robbery at a betting Company in Bukoto, a Kampala surburb (FILE PHOTO)

BUKOTO – Residents of Bukoto in Nakawa Division, Kampala, are in panic following the discovery a gun dumped in area on Saturday.

The gun was dumped near a betting company in Bukoto Trading Centre which had been broken into my unknown thugs. The criminals varnished with Shs4m which was in the safe and four flat TV screens.

Locals called upon police to increase its vigilance and presence since house and shop break-ins have become synonymous in the area in the recent past.

Police from Kira Road took the gun which was reportedly found with marks of a private security company. Police have since embarked on the hunt for the guard who was the owner of the gun.

The discovery of the gun comes against the backdrop of increasing murders and kidnaps in the country. Since December, police have registered over 50 kidnaps.
