NWSC steps up plans to stabilise water supply in Kabulengwa-Naluvule

KAMPALA – The National Water and Sewerage Corporation has embarked on plans to boost water supply reliability along Hoima road under its water for all programme.

The project works include:

  • Trenching and laying of a 10km water pumping main (9kms have so far been laid from Bulenga booster to Kabulengwa hill via Sentema road, Kireka and Kyebando-Nansana)
  • All pipe laying works and associated pipe works shall be completed by end of August 2018.
  • Construction of a 500,000 litres capacity water reservoir on top of Kabulengwa hill.
  • Construction of a water pumping station

According to the Kampala water supply Senior Manager Eng Moses Bigabwa, the project will improve water supply reliability to Nansana, Kabulengwa, Kyebando, Naluvule, Wakiso and the surrounding areas. “We’re working on a number of interventions to improve the water supply situation in Kmapala.” he said

Project supervisor Eng Bbale Francis assured residents that all is being done to complete the new system on time and serve the people along Hoima road with clean safe water this financial year.

NWSC MD Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha shared that this is part of the ongoing water supply stabilisation plans aimed at boosting water supply in all NWSC areas of operation.

Dr Silver added that the government of Uganda through NWSC recently launched the Service Coverage Acceleration Programme (SCAP 100) with an aim of extending water supply to over 12,000 villages in Uganda, connecting over 140,0000 new customers onto the NWSC grid, installing over 20,000 public water points and laying over 8000kms of water mains extension by 2020
