KOTIDO – The ruling NRM National Chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will campaign in the new Municipality of Kotido this Sunday afternoon.
According to NRM Communications chief, Rogers Mulindwa, Mr Museveni will campaign for the party flag bearers at different levels of leadership that include the Member of Parliament and the Mayor among others.
“He is expected here midday but there is already visible excitement down town in anticipation of his arrival. Cultural songs and dances were staged in all the four Divisions throughout the night,” Mr Mulindwa said on Sunday morning.
Senior Administrator from the NRM Secretariat in Kampala Lawrence Mayambala who has been camped in Kotido for two weeks says Mr. Museveni will address one rally at Lomukura Primary School play ground in the Central Division.
“Thorough ground mobilisation has been well done under the overall supervision of a CEC Member Hon Simon Aleper,” Mr Mulindwa said.
NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba also camped in Kotudo for two days to kick start the exercise before she travelled to Bugiri. Others cadres on the ground include Paak Peter Pex.
“The team spent the best part of yesterday conducting mobilisation meetings with various groups. They had fruitful engagements with the NRM branch women leaders of the 21 villages in the central Division and flagged them off to intensify door to door campaigns. They also met with informal groups such as the market vendors and boda boda cyclists,” Mr Mulindwa said.
Mr. Ismail Muhammad Lomwar is the Flag Bearer for Municipal Mayor and Hon Loki Peter Abrahams for Parliament.
Kotido Municipality has 37 Polling Stations, 04 Divisions,106 Villages/Cells and close to 20,000 voters.
