Basalirwa clinches Bugiri Municipality MP

BUGIRI –The opposition JEEMA candidate, Mr Asuman Basalirwa, has clinched the Bugiri Municipality parliamentary seat in an election marked by shades of violence.

Basalirwa, who was declared winner at around 12.30am on Saturday morning, garnered 3,928 votes, beating his closest rival, NRM’s Oketcho, who polled 3,267 votes. FDC’s Eunice Namatende polled 928.

Supporters of the opposition JEEMA candidate in the Bugiri Municipality parliamentary election, Asumani Basalirwa, took to streets of Bugiri Town in jubilation after he led by a big margin at most of the polling stations as provisional results were being tallied up on which he was declared winner hours later
