MASINDI – A suspected boda boda thief has been lynched to death by an angry mob in Masindi district Katulikire village .
The yet-to-be identified middle aged man met this death Thursday evening subsequent to allegation of making-away with a motorcycle (Bajaj) registration number UEL 488B from Apodorwa town.
According to the eye witnesses, he was cornered by speeding Boda Boda cyclists ensuing a 7 kilometer following to an alert issued by their colleagues from Apodorwa.
Chanting anti-theft slogans expressing dissatisfaction over the continued act, the agitated mob pounced on the suspected thief and lynched him.
However, the Albertine region Police spokesperson Mr.Julius Hakiza cautioned the public to desist from mob-justice and the police shall not condone such gruesome acts.
“We, as police, condemn act of mob justice and people should not take laws in their hands and should report any crime to the nearest police station,” Hakiza said
He went ahead to say all those who were involved in this act will be arrested and will brought to justice after investigations are concluded.
The body was taken to Masindi hospital for post-mortem.
