Police Officer found dead in latrine

GULU- Laban Tukamureeba , 36, a police officer at Gulu Central Police Station was on the afternoon of Thursday May 24, found dead in a pit latrine at a community police post in Gulu town.

The officer who hailed from Rukungiri district was the in charge Main Bus Park Police Post.

Members of the community found Tukamureeba’s body at 1:00pm in a pit latrine at his home in Layibi Division Community Policing Post.

Aswa River region police spokesperson Jimmy Okema confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate. He noted the body had been taken for postmortem, however, the cause of the death remains unclear as investigations are underway.

“The body was picked and taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending postmortem by the police surgeon to ascertain the cause of death. It’s a very unfortunate incident,” Mr Okema said.
