KAMPALA–It is Darkness at the Noon as students and staff at Kampala International University mourn their colleagues who perished in an accident over the weekend.

A total of six students died when the commuter taxi, UAZ 179T, that they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck Reg. No UAK 812L that had been parked along the Kampala-Gulu highway at Kakooge, in Nakasongola district.

The deceased, according to information from the university management, include; Fred Mutabazi, Vincent Kwizera, Emmanuel Shema, Frank Ngarambi, Samson Bukwengeri and Fred Kasasiira.

“Their passing is even more hurting because it follows closely the death of Azizi Ojiambo who died in Mukono about three weeks ago and the death of our Nigerian student, Abdullahi Abulkadir, who died on November 1,” a statement from the university management seen by PML Daily reads in part.

Under their association the Bayarwanda Students Association, the students had gone to attend a party in Nakasongola, organized by a colleague. The gruesome accident happened as they were returning to Kampala at about 8:00pm
Those who survived are currently admitted at Nsambya Hospital with critical injuries.

“We express our heartfelt condolences to their families and friends. May their souls rest in peace…” a statement from the university administration seen by PML Daily reads.

This website stands with the university management, the students fraternity and bereaved families during this difficult period.
