President Museveni has reportedly cancelled his scheduled meeting with the members of the Uganda Medical Association (UMA) who are striking over poor renumeration.
Reports indicate that President Museveni said he could not meet doctors when they are still on strike. He advised them to return to work before he organizes meeting with them. The meet was slated for today, Friday at State House Entebbe.
This website tried to reach the President’s Press Secretaries Don for a comment in vain.
But the UMA spokesperson Fauzi Kavuma confirmed that the State House meeting would not take place as planned today.
“We received an email from State House last night informing us about the postponement of the meeting,” she said.
The strike by the medical doctors has entered a second week. President while speaking in Fort portal yesterday vowed to fire all striking medical doctors and replace them with other people who are hungry for work.
Meanwhile, there is a picture circulating on social media platforms showing UMA president Dr Ekwaro Obuku delivering gifts to FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye in the recent past.
The picture has caused an uproar on social media, with many many referring to the outspoken medic as a partisan doctor.
