High Court judge, Wilson Kwesiga has granted Mathew Kanyamunyu, the key suspect in the murder of child worker, Keneth Akena, a cash bail of sh10m.
Through his lawyers of Ochieng Associates, Kanyamunyu argued it was his constitutional right to bail and the notion of presumption of innocence as major grounds to his new application.
On August 23, last month, Justice Yasin Nyanzi dismissed Kanyamunyu’s 3rd bail application on grounds that he had made his application before the same judge who declined to release him on bail but on similar grounds.
In his ruling, Justice Nyanzi then advised Kanyamunyu to apply for bail as many times as he wants but before different judges. Matthew Kanyamunyu is said to have shot dead social worker Kenneth Akena on the night of November 22nd, 2016 along Kampala-Jinja Highway as two got into a quarrel when the deceased allegedly scratched his car.
