KAMPALA–Police have banned Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine from performing at music concerts pending investigations into what police call a language that incites the public at his latest music show at One Love beach, Busabala.

The ban, according to police, takes immediate effect, meaning that the musician-turned politician will not perform at Colline Hotel Mukono in the show slated for this Saturday.

Responding to music show promoter, Juma Balunywa, the brain behind Balunywa Promotions Ltd, Kampala Metropolitan Police chief Fred Mwesigwa declined to grant permission for a show at Colline Hotel in Mukono.

“Unfortunately we are not granting permission for the show because during the previous show at One Love Beach Busabala over the weekend, Bobi Wine uttered words that incite the public and he is under investigations,” Mwesigwa said.

Bobi Wine reportedly turned the music show into a political rally.

According to Balunywa, about Shs50 million had been injected into the show. Balunywa said he paid Shs25m to Bobi Wine, paid for adverts, cleared venue and security, among others. He has contacted his lawyers with intention to sue police for the damages and losses incurred.

Bobi Wine says he has never acted contrary to police orders. He says he did not engage in the Red ribbon campaign during the concert at Busabala and neither did his concert go beyond the gazetted time lines put across by police operatives during the meeting that preceded his show.
