KAMPALA–Rubaga South Member of Parliament Kato Lubwama was by press time under police custody for allegedly holding an illegal consultative meeting in Nateete, Kampala.

Police led by Katwe DPC Frantile Lwamusaayi first blocked Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana and Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza from accessing the rally venue in Nateete.

On learning that his colleagues had been blocked from accessing the rally venue, the comedian-turned politician Katwo Lubwama headed to police to seek an explanation. He was, however, bundled on to a waiting police van and driven away to a yet to be known destination.

There was a scuffle as angry locals pelted police with stones that in turn responded by firing teargas and bullets to disperse the protesters.

Police yesterday issued an order barring Opposition legislators from conducting joint consultation rallies. The Leader of Opposition, Winnie Kiiza, rubbished the order, saying nothing will stop her and other Opposition legislators from conducting joint consultations.
