Uganda hosts US Health Services Secretary as malaria cases escalate

KAMPALA – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has on Monday hosted the US Health and Human Services, Secretary, Alex Azar to discuss Ebola, HIV, Malaria and other health issues in Uganda.

According to MoH, this meeting was also a tool to strengthen collaboration & partnership with the US Government which deeply supports the health sector.

The Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said “I wish to appreciate Secretary Azar who has been a great support not only to Uganda but to the entire continent. He has been with me throughout, giving full support to ensure Uganda is protected from Ebola”

Mr Alex Azar said that “I recognise the incredible hard work that Uganda has done to prevent the spread of Ebola. Uganda, Ministry of Health and Minister Aceng have risen to the occasion making the country stand out in outbreak preparedness and response in the continent” Secretary Azar said.

Secretary Azar is on a week-long regional visit to assess DRC, Rwanda and Uganda efforts to end the deadly DRC Ebola outbreak.
