MITYANA – Residents in Mityana South are living in fear after a strange disease engulfed their constituency. The mysterious illness has so far claimed several lives, especially vulnerable children.

The matter was brought to light on September 4, by Mityana South MP, Hon Henry Makumbi Kamya during Wednesday’s plenary sitting where he urged the Ministry of Health to send a team of experts to Bukooba village.

“The village is in panic I couldn’t provide solutions. The bodies of the dead children have turned yellowish. To make matters worse, two ladies told me that most health centres have no measles vaccines,” said Hon Kamya.

He added; “We want to know why there is shortage of measles vaccines in health centres. We request the Ministry of Health to come to Bukooba village and save my people.”

The Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah directed the Minister of Health to deal with the matter and report back to Parliament.
