Uganda’s Sunday Stephen has been crowned Mr. Africa International 2024, beating 29 other contestants from across the continent.
The grand finale was held on December 22, 2024, at Mamba Point, Lagonda, Freetown, Sierra Leone. Sunday’s victory marks a historic moment for Uganda and a testament to his dedication, passion for fitness, and modeling prowess.
This year’s competition featured a rigorous selection process, with only 10 finalists making it to the ultimate showdown. Sunday’s win is a culmination of his years of hard work, self-funded preparations, and unrelenting determination.
In an interview with PML Daily, Sunday shared his emotions: “This is a dream come true. I’ve worked tirelessly for this moment. Representing Uganda and Africa has always been my passion, and today, I feel like I’ve made my country proud. This victory is not just for me; it’s for every African who dares to dream big.”
Sunday’s preparation for the competition was nothing short of remarkable. Without the support of a coach, manager, or sponsors, he trained tirelessly to excel in all aspects of the competition.
His win is a shining example of how passion and determination can overcome all odds. As Mr. Africa International 2024, Sunday will receive cash prizes and contracts with renowned modeling agencies, including House of Twitch, which operates in London and Nigeria.
Sunday expressed his desire to leverage his platform to promote Africa’s rich culture, heritage, and beauty to the world. “This platform is bigger than me. It’s about showcasing the best of Africa to the world and inspiring young Africans to dream big, break barriers, and unite across borders,” he said.
The Ugandan model also expressed his commitment to empowering more Ugandans and Africans to embrace healthier lifestyles and pursue their dreams with vigor.
Sunday’s victory has sent shockwaves of excitement across Uganda, with many taking to social media to congratulate him. The Ugandan government has also issued a statement praising Sunday’s achievement, describing him as a “remarkable ambassador” for the country.
As Sunday basks in the glory of his triumph, he remains committed to his roots, fondly referring to Uganda as the “Pearl of Africa.” His win is a proud moment for Uganda and a testament to the country’s rich talent and cultural heritage.
In a message to his fellow Ugandans and Africans, Sunday said: “Uganda is my home, and Africa is my pride. This win is for every Ugandan and African who believes in the power of dreams. Together, we can achieve greatness.”
