KAMPALA – Last week, audio producer Clear Beats was up in arms with Canada based Ugandan singer Umar Mukose alias Prince Omar for allegedly stealing the beats he used for his new hit single dubbed Bajikweeka.
The bitter producer went ahead and scrapped three of Prince Omar’s songs from his official YouTube account claiming that the beats to his latest hit song Bajikweka belonged to him and wanted to be to be compensated with $300 for using his works without his consent.
“I have no issue with your video and lyrics but my concern is on the beats. That is my original beat. Why would you use my beats without my consent?” Clear Beats asked then.
Omar who was scared and felt threatened defended himself saying that that is a complaint to the producer because artistes do not own beats. “I am not the producer. That’s why we artistes hashtag songs with the producers’ names. Mba nkulaga source.” He said.
On Friday, however, Clear Beats came out and apologized for taking the matter extremely and thanked Omar’s management for handling the matter on a professional basis to see that the issues are ironed out.
“I am the one that scrapped off Prince Omar’s song Bajikweeka from YouTube. There were some misunderstandings, someone messed with my beats and used them for the Bajikweeka song but we have sorted this. The Audio Producers Association and Prince Omar’s management sat and reached an agreement and we were both happy with the outcomes,” he explained.
The producer who was ashamed of the extent to which his anger had taken him apologized to Omar’s fans and requested them to keep supporting him.
“Prince Omar does not have any problem and his management is so professional. The problem stemmed from the person who sold them the song,
