KAMPALA – 2021 Kampala Lord Mayor hopeful, Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has set himself apart from his musical partners after he emerged a media investor.

Two years back, artist Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone said he would be opening up a radio station called Chameleon FM.

He said the radio station would be an expansion of his business empire and it would be located in Kololo where he was also said to own a bar.

The legendary musician has now launched his own Television station and named it after his music label, Leone Island. Chameleone broke the exciting news on his social media platforms where he revealed that the station will be available soon on Star times, GoTV and Free to Air.

“Leone television Signal testing free to Air Tv, star times and Channel 541 Gotv and free to air,” Chameleone posted.

The ‘Baliwa’ hit maker joins his fellow Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz who owns Wasafi TV and FM media platforms.

2020, a year that has not been kind to most musicians has surely been a bundle of joy for Chameleone. From having a successful music career to successfully joining active politics, and now the singer is a media investor.

Critics have however started to question the longevity of the station since the celebrated artists has over the years invested in several businesses which failed to work out.

Years back, he partnered with a certain company to produce Chameleone phones, but these phones failed to impress, and recently, he joined the bar business when he opened up DNA Bar and Lounge but it collapsed too.

Much as it is not clear yet what kind of content the channel will be airing and who the target audience is, Chameleone has gone down memory lane as the first artiste in Uganda to own a TV station.
