KAMPALA – The effects of the Coronavirus pandemic to the music industry have been immense ever since the president halted the concerts and gatherings in a bid to control the spread of the virus.
It is without a doubt the music industry is one of those sectors that have been hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. Despite the hardships that have as well hit many artists this year, quite a number of them did not sit back and sulk but adjusted and adapted to the situation.
Some creative artists like Kyadondo East legislator and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine, Sheebah Karungi, Spice Diana, OS Suuna, put up online concerts to keep their fans entertained.
Concerts like Club Beatz have also defined the online audience over the past few months and have paved a way of doing things in the new normal.
New to the game will be the first-ever digital Tanqueray All Music Safari 2020 edition that is set to be held virtually on November 1st.
The two hour entertainment show will feature exhilarating performances by some of Uganda’s top-notch Soul, R&B, jazz, funk and afro soul genre artists set to be headlined by Kaz Kasozi, Tshaka Mayanja, Tonya Michelle, Joel Kisakye, Julius Sese, Amani Baya, LG Kintu, Spyda Mc, Mseto Nation of Aloysius Migadde, Matovu Lawrence and many others.
James Jozee and Noah Saha of the Gogosimo Band Kenya will support the local cast.
Unlike the past editions of the Annual Jazz Safari that saw music lovers gather at the Lugogo Cricket Oval or Serena Hotel’s Victoria Hall in large numbers to unwind with performances from international artistes, this time round performances will be streamed live on NTV Uganda.
Ms Annete Nakiyaga, the Head of International Premium Spirits and Ready Drinks at UBL says they are glad to be a part of the team that will ‘be adding sophistication and glamour’ to the concert.
“This is going to be a Picnic Edition so we encourage all of you to enjoy the show in the comfort of your home, do not miss out,” she said.
The All Music Safari is a concert that unites many through music. It is an annual musical event that brings together musicians and music lovers and has featured international acts like Mya, Ginuwine, Yola Semedo, Marcus Anderson, Richard Bona, Joe Thomas, Keith Sweat, Karyn Whyte among others.
According to veteran artiste and event proprietor Tshaka Mayanja, this year’s digital ‘Tanqueray All Music Safari 2020’ will feature some of Uganda’s best Soul-R&B, Jazz, Funk and Afro Soul bands and artistes.
“We have assembled a cast of very good musicians for the event. These are Ugandans and Kenyans who will join us for the Safari this year which will be live and totally free online,” he said.
Although the concert will be live and totally free online, Mayanja called upon Ugandans to donate towards supporting cancer patients to access treatment and meals because the Uganda Cancer Society Patient Access Programs have been drastically affected by Covid-19.
