KAMPALA – Singer Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel Manizo has cried out to the government to reopen bars and the airport for international flights.

In an interview with a local TV station, the “Guwooma” hitmaker said that governments should consider the fact that also artists need to start working again, adding that staying home without working has drained them mentally.

“I kindly ask President Museveni to consider us artistes. For sure staying home has drained me personally. I miss performing for my fans and traveling abroad to see my children,” he said.

Weasel added that his wardrobe had also run out of what he called the latest trendy styles and the ones he had no longer fit him so he needs to go abroad for shopping.

Earlier this year in March, the President banned what he termed as ‘merry-making’ in order to reduce the potential of spreading the Coronavirus. He directed that bars should be closed and group-drinking stopped.

The singer also stressed that he has no beef with any artists while commenting about his relationship with Bebe Cool who recently celebrated his 43rd birthday.

“I don’t have any problem with Bebe Cool. We have no beef, we are fine and above all I respect him. He is among the fathers of music in Uganda and therefore he deserves all the respect,” he shared.

Weasel has had it rough in the lock down and it could be seriously true that he needs bars and international travels to open so he can have some time to shake off the stress

Just a few days after he was put on the spot for vandalizing producer Genius Goddy’s studios, on July 9, 2020, singer Douglas Mayanja Seguya alias Weasel Manizo again topped headlines for reportedly being involved in a fist-fight with wife Talia Khassim.

The reports followed a video that circulated online showing Weasel’s wife departing from the Neverland residence in Makindye with her children.

In the video, an eye witness revealed that the ‘Wiggle Wiggle‘singer seriously exchanged blows and slaps with the wife. The cause of the fight was however not disclosed.

The eye witness explained that he was forced to delete more videos that showed how Weasel and the wife fought, by the singer’s friend and close associate known as Messiah.
