KAMPALA – Gift of Kado, famed for songs such as ‘Traffic man officer’ and ‘Lawyer’ among others has come out and warned singers to up their game in this ever changing music industry if they want to keep relevant.
The former Goodlyf artiste has been silent for a very long time but has come out in a recent interview to criticize entertainers for not being multi-taskers.
“If you are an artiste and can’t write songs, you wasting your time,” he said while on Spark TV’s Livewire.
He also gave an example of the late Philly Bongole Lutaya’s Christmas songs as one of those that still have an impact of people’s lives unlike today where artistes currently release bubble gum music.
When asked to mention the artistes he believes are still doing well, he pointed out Jose Chameleone, Irene Namubiru, Madoxx Sematimba and John Blaq.
Gift of Kado further stated that his contribution to Uganda’s music industry can’t go without mention as he introduced Sasha Vybz and Daddy Andre into the game.
Musician Gift of Kaddo was in 2016 expelled by Good Lyfe from Neverland on grounds that he and his friends had turned the place into a party area and not a work place.
Kaddo was alleged to have been acting in an idle and disorderly way which was reflecting badly on the Radio and Weasel brand who eventually decided to pull the plug on him.
