COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: Ruparelia Foundation, MP aspirant Babu donate relief items to 5,000 vulnerable families

KAMPALA — The Ruparelia Foundation, the charity arm of Ruparelia Group in a goodwill gesture amid the lockdown following the Coronavirus pandemic has revealed a plan to donate 5000 food relief items and other essential items to the most vulnerable families in Kampala and other towns.

The Foundation will distribute foodstuff to the most affected families, more so the casual workers in 12 parishes of Kampala including — Kagugube, Bukesa, Kisenyi, Kamwokya, Kololo, Mengo, Old Kampala, Shauri Yako, Nakasero and Industrial Area.

Ruparelia Foundation is working with Kampala Central Aspirant, Cedric Babu.

Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group said the gesture is part of their core principles of reaching out to the needy in such circumstances like it is under the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The 5000 families to benefit from 5000 care packages are to be drawn from across the country selected from the community. The package will include, sugar, soap, posho among other commodities.

“We thank the teams that are working tirelessly especially the President, the Health Minister, Permanent Secretary, doctors and nurses and all the medical teams, police and security agencies for the good work” Mr. Rajiv said.

Uganda has registered 23 Coronavirus infections by Saturday March 28.
In a Saturday morning message, President Museveni had indicated more drastic measures maybe undertaken to curb the spread, which out of proportion would bring down the country’s healthcare system and lead to loss of life.
