KAMPALA – Dr Hamza Sebunya, the husband of artiste Rema Namakula, was among the graduands that thronged the Makerere University Freedom square as the country’s oldest public university held its 70th graduation ceremony.

Sebunya has graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. He initially had a diploma in Gynaecology.

Sebunya, who has been working at Mulago National Referral Hospital Kampala, came to the limelight in August 2019 when it emerged that he was dating Rema, who had initially been engaged to fellow singer Eddie Kenzo. Sebinya and Rema later in November held their traditional marriage amid pomp and colour.

Makerere University’s graduation week opened on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, with over 13,000 students set to graduate through the days until Friday.

The guest of honour is Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda who represented President Museveni. Education Minister Janet Museveni and Makerere University Prof Ezra Suruma are present at the function.
