MARACHA– Excitement as West Nile prepares to host 2019’s first Nyege Nyege dubbed ‘Cere’ Festival.
The four-day event will take place at Miriadua Falls, Kijomoro sub- County in Maracha district from April 30, to May 3.
The Festival is one of Uganda’s events aimed at attracting tourists into the country.
Mr. Gerald Iga, Head of Cere Festival organizing committee said: “Various entertainment and tourism activities targeting the international community shall be the key focus.”
The event that is expecting over 3000 people is anticipating to be better than the last year’s.
Mr. Joseph Chobe, Head of Finance Cere Festival said: “The event will surpass the second Nyege Nyege Festival, which was held in Buikwe in December last year.”
Mr. Chobe said that the Festival will make history for West Nile and Northern Uganda through their unique music and cultural performances.
Mr. Lawerence Adiga, the LC V Chairperson Maracha district said that the festival will enable the people of West Nile to appreciate tourism and enable the youths to develop their talents in music, art and culture.
The district is currently constructing sanitary facilities at the falls in preparation for the festival.
