KAMPALA– Mandela National Stadium Namboole has finally cleared Bobi Wine to carry out his music show in the stadium, confirmed Emma Sserugo, the concert promoter.

According to the agreement letter signed by Jamil Ssewanyana Mpagi, the Stadium managing director, Roland K. Kyarisima, the stadium chief finance officer, Emma Sserugo and the concert promoter, the concert will be happening on November 9, 2018.

“In consideration for hiring out the stadium’s standard tartan for the Kyarenga Album Show (hereinafter referred to as the event) to be held on 9/11/2018 at Mandela National Stadium, the second party shall levy upon EMMA PROMOTIONS AND MARKETING AGENCY UGX. 32,000,000 (Thirty-two million shilling only) VAT inclusive,” reads party of the agreement.

The concert organisers have been asked to clear the payment by October 29  in order to confirm the booking.

“Payment of Sh32, 000,000 (Thirty-two million shillings) VAT inclusive will be made in full by 29/10/2018 to confirm the booking.”

The agreement letter between Mandela National Stadium and Emma Promotions for Kyarenga concert.

Balaam Barugahara, the music concert promoter has disputed the social media allegations that the government and him had a hand in stopping the show.

He says the government can never stop a show for its one (gov’t) to benefit more out of it.

“VAT is collected on venue hire & ticket sales, VAT is collected on fuel and transport to the venue.”

“VAT is collected on drinks sales Beer, water and soda so it’s in the good interest of Government the show to be there,” Balaam educated the public.

He says its cancellation from 20th October was as a result of lack of contract between organizers and Stadium management.

“With Namboole mgt clearance, I am sure you will be cleared by the security. Good luck to Hon Bobi and your organizers/ promoters,” he said.

Kyarenga concert was supposed to take place this Saturday 20th; however, due to the management of the stadium failure to clear it out, the police had to stop it.
