Kampala gears up for World Music Festival

Artistes perform at the opening of the World Music Festival in Kampala on Saturday

Alliance Francaise Kampala together with French school Ecole Francaise de Grands lacs have teamed up with the French Embassy in Kampala Sheraton Hotel, Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, Pearl Rhythm and the Break Dance project Uganda to bring the 36th edition of Fete de La musique (music festival) slated for June 18 to 24 in Kampala.
This year’s edition will be the 36th edition of the World Music Festival and aims at celebrating the growth of music in the world.
As part of activities to mark this year’s edition of the World Music Festival, Sheraton Hotel will host a musical concert that will feature pianist and jazz composer Laurent Assoulen. The event that is funded by Brussels Airlines will take place on Wednesday tomorrow starting 7:00pm.
Tickets to the Perfume concert at Sheraton Hotel will cost 40,000 and 20,000 for Alliance Francaise club members. The tickets are already on sale at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
The festival that commenced last Saturday has attracted different artistes and groups that will showcase and merge their different styles. They include: the Ecole Fran?aise Music Club, Haka Mukiga & Apio Moro, James & Giovanni, Jackie Akello & Mame N’Diack,Faizal Monstrixx, Sylvester & Abramz, Joram MC, Breakdance Project Uganda, Kongoloko and Navio, among others. Entry to all these events is free except for the Perfume concert at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.
