KAMPALA — One of the greatest inventions we have seen in the last century has been the world wide web and for many Kenyans and Ugandans they have been able to use this medium to earn a wage from the comfort of their home.

The issues around internet speeds has been resolved in recent years and we can expect this to only improve in coming years, as both governments look to double down on their investments into web infrastructure.

We have already seen many Africans take to the world stage thanks to the web, and here are some ideas on how you can use it to make a living from your own home.

YouTube Superstar

There isn’t a Kenyan who would not be inspired by the fantastic comedian Elsa Majimbo who has taken the world by storm this year. The Kenyan comic began taking short movies on her phone and posting them to YouTube and social media channels, where she gained an enormous following. Elsa is the perfect example of what can be done with the simplicity of a basic piece of tech and a great idea.

Online Gambling

Kenyans and Ugandans should be thankful for open gambling laws which means that online gambling in particular is more accessible than in many neighboring nations. The best part of gambling online is that due to the fierce competition between casinos, there are many welcome offers which means that your first profits may not even be from your own money. Head to a site such as Casimba online casino and enjoy some handsome welcome offers to help you to get started.

Blogging

No matter what you do, be it accountancy, farming, painting or working in sports, there is always a subject which you can blog about, and believe it or not this can make you money. You only need to look at the incredible Ugandan travel blog ‘Diary of a Muzungu’ to realize just how much opportunity there is in this field. That blog alone generates tens of thousands of traffic each and every week. The key to build slowly, provide great quality content and then look to monetize you blog, this is a long term plan but one which is both fun and which offers a limitless opportunity.

Trading

Stocks, shares, futures, crypto currency, all of these assets are constantly moving in price and if you have a nose for what will go up and down then you can do very well from day trading. There is an enormous amount of information about day trading online, which you can find for free. Put in the work to learn the craft, pick the asset which you are most passionate about and then look to buy and sell with regularity, making small gains each time that you do. Day trading is not as hard as it looks and as long as you are sensible with the volume of your investment you can turn this into a real money spinner.

These are just a couple of examples of what you could do from home in order to make money online.
