Kampala, Uganda – The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda has successfully launched a nationwide blood donation campaign, aimed at addressing the country’s persistent blood shortages. The initiative, part of UBA’s corporate social responsibility, seeks to boost blood reserves ahead of the festive season.
The campaign, launched at UBA’s Head Office in Kampala, saw a strong turnout from UBA staff, customers, and members of the public. Speaking at the launch, Sebaggala Mustapha Kigozi, Chairman of UBA Uganda’s Board of Directors, emphasized the bank’s commitment to community welfare.
“Blood saves lives, and as a responsible corporate citizen, UBA stands with healthcare institutions, especially during this time of increased need,” Kigozi said.
Hoziana Niyonsaba Ssemanda, UBA’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, encouraged attendees to donate, highlighting the impact of their contributions. “Just one pint of blood can save up to three lives. This is a small sacrifice that creates a big impact,” she stated.
The campaign, organized in partnership with Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), will continue throughout December, expanding to other regions to ensure nationwide participation. UBA aims to collect significant blood donations, targeting around 200 donors daily.
This initiative is part of UBA Uganda’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts, which focus on education, environmental conservation, and governance. The bank’s commitment to community welfare demonstrates its dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of Ugandans.
With its successful launch, UBA Uganda reaffirms its position as a bank that prioritizes people, empowering and supporting them through innovative and impactful programs. As a leading financial institution, UBA continues to uphold its vision of being Africa’s Global Bank, connecting and uplifting communities across the continent.
