KKAMPALA – Diamond Trust Bank Uganda (DTB) has announced a strategic partnership with Xpress Money, an international money transfer service to simplify and expand access to remittance services for Uganda’s diaspora community.
The partnership enables customers to send money to over 170 countries worldwide through DTB branches across Uganda, leveraging Xpress Money’s extensive global network. This alliance promotes financial inclusion, closing the gap for millions relying on remittances.
Uganda is one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest remittance recipients, having received $1.4 billion in 2023, equivalent to 3% of its GDP. These financial inflows significantly improve lives, covering essential expenses like school fees, healthcare, and housing.
According to DTB Uganda’s Chief Executive Officer, Godfrey Sebaana, “We are thrilled to join hands with Xpress Money to boost our remittance offerings. At DTB Uganda, we continually seek ways to add value for our diaspora customers, and this collaboration provides an ideal platform for efficient and seamless remittances. With Xpress Money’s extensive network, our customers can easily support their loved ones, regardless of distance.”
Sebaana emphasized that digital transformation and strengthening diaspora banking are key priorities for DTB Uganda. This partnership with Xpress Money enhances remittance solutions for the diaspora market, aligning with the bank’s vision.
Xpress Money CEO, Samir Vidhate, shared, “Our partnership with DTB Uganda reflects our dedication to providing convenient, secure remittance options for customers globally. We are pleased to extend our services to DTB Uganda’s customers, making it easier and more affordable for them to send money home. Together, we aim to simplify remittances and strengthen the connection between families across borders.”
Xpress Money offers sending and receiving services via Cash-to-Cash, Account Credits, and Mobile Wallets. With a presence in 180 countries, Xpress Money provides secure, convenient remittance options.
This partnership supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10, reducing inequalities by lowering remittance transfer costs. By increasing disposable income and narrowing the financial inclusion gap, this collaboration substantially reduces inequalities.
