KAMPALA – Absa Bank Uganda has announced the appointment of Ruth Lillian Kagabane as its new Compliance Director, effective 1 November 2024.
Ms. Kagabane brings 17 years of experience in risk management, compliance, operations, and controls to the role. She previously served as Head of Retail and Business Banking Operations and Controls at Absa.
“Ruth’s wealth of experience and expertise makes her a valuable asset to our leadership team,” said Mumba Kalifungwa, Managing Director at Absa Bank Uganda.
Before joining Absa, Ms. Kagabane worked at KPMG and the Uganda Revenue Authority.
During her tenure at Absa, she spearheaded the establishment of the Bank Staff Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) and served as its first Chairperson.
Ms. Kagabane holds a Master of Sciences Degree in Professional Accountancy, a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics and Applied Economics, and a Higher Diploma in Tax Administration and Revenue. She is a Fellow of the ACCA and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda.
Her appointment is part of Absa’s strategy to invest in and grow its talent, according to Mr. Kalifungwa.
