ICPAU honours Covid-19 heroes, best accountants at 2021 Accountancy Service Awards

KAMPALA —Accountants body, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has recognized and awarded outstanding Accountants at the Accountancy Services Awards 2021.

The Awards were part of the three days Annual ICPAU seminar organized under the theme; Leadership for Transformation in a Dynamic Environment.

The Chairperson of the Member Services Committee of ICPAU Accountancy Services Awards, Ronald Mutumba noted the awards are aimed at recognizing persons or entities that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the accountancy profession in the country.

“These awards are categorized into ICPAU Gold Service Award; CPA of the year Award; Young Accountant of the Year Award; Finance Team of the Year Award; and Accounting Firm of the Year Award,” Mutumba said.

Mutumba said that 2020/2021 was a tough period however with the resilience exhibited and technological adoptions, many businesses were able to sail through the uncertain times to victory.

Mutumba noted that Individuals and organisations were bale to rise up to the occasion by innovating solutions that continue to benefit society.

Award winners
The event saw individuals, organisations and institutions awarded with accolades for their best performances.

Cosmas Senyonga scooped the Young Accountant of the Year award, Springs Tugye & Associates LLP won the Accounting firm of the year award while Prof. Patrick Ogwang the developer of COVIDEX was awarded with the Covid-19 Lifeline award.

Baylor College of Medicine Uganda won the Finance Team of the year award while the Deputy Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom, Prof. Twaha Kaawaase was recognized with the Gold Service Lifetime award
