KAMPALA – Youthful tycoon Hamis Kiggundu has written off all his tenants’ outstanding rental arrears to zero.

In a notice addressed to all tenants of Ham Enterprises Limited, Mr Kiggundu says the intent of the move is to give chance to his tenants to regain stability in their businesses.

Management earlier wrote off two months rental arrears of April and March.

But Mr Kiggundu said there was need to write off rent arrears for all the months the country was in lockdown.

“It has come to our attention that majority of your businesses have greatly been affected by COVID-19 due to closure of boarders and reduced sales,” he said.

He however noted that starting with September 2020, rent should always be paid not later that the third day of every month.

“So going forward,we don’t expect tolerance of accumulation of rental arrears for your premises as management is going to be very strict on rent collection,” reads an excerpt.
