KAMPALA – As the Government of Uganda keeps repatriating its citizens that have been stuck in various countries due to the novel Coronavirus, alot of efforts are in place by domestic hospitality players to have the process run smoothly.

Ministry of health put in place a number of guidelines, one of them being quarantined for a fortnight as medical tests are carried out to avoid the spread COVID-19 that has wrecked the entire globe.

Protea Group of Hotels has taken the frontline role to heed to the call of Ugandans repatriated.

According to Patrick Bitature, Chairman Simba Group revealed that having a locally owned and internationally branded hotel group in Uganda, they have decided to discount their accommodation rates by 50 percent for all Ugandans being repatriated to be quarantined.

“As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs works to evacuate Ugandans abroad, we must all do our part in order to battle this pandemic together, and we at Protea Hotels Uganda will strive to continue providing world class service for the people of Uganda,” he said, adding that part of their safety operations is to have a comprehensive set of house guidelines that are designed for the guests.

Bitature empthasised that they have implemented the following measures as per government directives:

-Airport pickups are handled by the Ministry of Health transportation service.

-All rooms are disinfected prior to arrival, beddings, amenities and toiletries are provided pre-arrival.

-Guest temperatures are checked upon arrival and throughout the stay.

-All guests to stay in their rooms while in quarantine.

-All meals will be room service

-They shall work closely with the health authorities on potential COVID-19 cases at the property.

As developments by scientists unfold to research for a cure and other preventative measures take shape in helping to combat the proliferation of COVID-19, the management will be alert and responsive to continuously ensure the safety and wellbeing of all its guests and other stake holders.

Ugandans from United  Arab Emirates, Qatar, Canada, United States of America , Ireland, Britain, South Africa among others are here and more to arrive as the process takes its course.
