
KAMPALA – The Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda (IIAU) the umbrella organisation of local internal auditors has received the 2019 Championship Building Awareness honor from the global regulator Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
The Ugandan internal auditors were awarded for exceptional commitment made to promoting the profession during International Internal Audit Awareness month celebrated each May.
Congratulating them, the IIU President and Chief Executive Officer Richard F. Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP,CCSA, CRMA, said that whereas May is over, IIA-Uganda should to continue the hard work to advocate all year for the international auditors and the important role they play in their organizations.
“By executing and taking part in activities throughout the month, IIA-Uganda’s efforts help build a deeper understanding of and bring a keen awareness to the value that internal auditors bring to stakeholders,” wrote Mr. Chambers.
“Indeed, the collective efforts of affiliates and chapters around the help raise the profile of internal auditors as keys to the success of their organization. Thank you for everything you did to help spread that message.” Reads an excerpt from the statement dated August 2, 2019.
This award aims to encourage and reward organizations and individuals associated with the internal auditing profession, for the innovative practices they have introduced in this field.
IIA is the leading voice for the internal auditing profession globally and provides thought leadership in the area of auditing, governance, risk and compliance.
The Institute hosts an annual conference, which brings together professionals from the industry to discuss topics related to Internal Audit which are of significance globally.
For 2018-19, the nominations received by the IIA were evaluated by some of the most eminent people from the industry, leading to the final selection of the winner.
The Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda is affiliated to the Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. with its headquarters in USA Florida. It was formed in 2002 by Internal Audit practitioners as an Association and thereafter incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 23 December 2008.
The Secretary is the Chief Administrator of the Secretariat and the Executive secretary | CEO runs the day to day activities of the Secretariat.
Over the years, membership at the Institute has grown from 33 members in 2003 to 507 members as at February 2019
